Character Murals
Garreth Joyce
Garreth Joyce is a graphic artist originally from Cork, and painted his mural on the OLD ESB wall on Colbert Street. He chose the quote: “All songs are living ghosts and long for a living voice” from Brendan Kennelly’s poem “Living Ghosts”
Martin Chute
Marin Chute is a master signwriter, and his signs are in front of many of Listowel’s fantastic family shops. For his mural, he chose the quote “Where’er I go I’ll love you sweet Listowel and doff my distant cap each day to you” from “Sweet Listowel” by John B. Keane.
Mack Signs
Owned by Cormac and Louise, Mack Signs sells hand-painted signs, creating unique murals and gold leaf work. They painted their mural on the Gable wall of Kay’s Children’s Shop. The quote on the mural reads: “Kerry is wide, high, and handsome and you can put your finger on The Village and The River, if you are able”, from Maurice Walsh’s “The Honest Fisherman and Other Stories”
